Carol Ann Tomlinson is an American educator, author and speaker. She is best known for her innovative work with techniques of differentiation in education. Tomlinson is a reviewer for eight journals and has authored over 200 articles, books, and other professional development materials. Her books on differentiation, translated into twelve languages, include ''How to Differentiate Instruction in a Mixed Ability Classroom'', ''The Differentiated Classroom: Responding to the Needs of All Learners'', and ''Leadership for Differentiated Schools and Classrooms''.
